Summer Blockbuster

Summer seems to have such a magic effect on all us Brits, with balmy evenings and warm summer breezes we’re encouraged to get out of the house and do something with our evenings. Our nation’s capital is always the first to answers our call for events and activities, one of our favourites being Somerset House’s open air cinema with Film4’s Summer Screen

With a wide collection of movies playing from the 29th July to the 8th August as well as exclusive ‘behind the screen’ talks and events, there’ll be something for everyone. Film wise they’re showing contemporary classics such as ‘Kill Bill Vol. 1’ and ‘Team America’, old Hollywood in the form of ‘Cabaret’ and ‘Manhattan’ as well as underground Indie flicks like ‘Let the Right One in’ and ‘Mulholland Drive’.

Get there early to bask in the Edmond J. Safra courtyard while picnicking and listen to guest DJ’s pumping out summer tunes. Then when night falls, make yourself comfortable to watch great cinema under the stars.

The Clothes Show

The Cellardoor girls hit the Clothes Show at Earls Court yesterday to have a look around and watch some shows. As well as scoring some great freebies and bumping into Larry Lamb (who we love!), we saw some great style on display from some of the ladies. Luckily we had our camera there so we could snap some pics and show you guys!

Jessica and Amber

Have you been to The Clothes Show before?
Jessica: This is my first time!
Amber: I've been a few times before, so I like coming back every year.

What made you decide to come?
Jessica: I got tickets for my birthday. I love clothes, and I like designing them. I'd love to be a designer someday!

Nicole and Oli

What brought you to The Clothes Show?
Nicole: All the clothes! We love that they're all in one place.
Oli: This is our first time here. We're excited to see the fashion shows too.

Lea and Laura

What brought you to The Clothes Show?
Lea: All the hot guys!
Laura: And obviously all the clothes and fashion. We've already bought far too much.

How would you describe your own style?
Laura: I flit through style depending on how I feel that day.
Lea: Yeah, I'm the same. Sometimes I'll feel really girly whereas other days I'll be a bit more rock chick.

Do you have any style icons?
Laura: I really like Pixie Lott, she has a great look.

Faye and Kate

Have you been to The Clothes Show before?
Faye: I went years ago in Birmingham, but I've just moved to London so my sister has come down for a day of girly bonding.

How would you describe your own style?
Kate: I like to play it quite safe, though I love Kate Moss and the stuff she did for Topshop.
Faye: I'm quite girly and wear a lot of pastels. I used to live in Australia and I think it inspired me to be quite "beachy".

Have any of you ventured down there this weekend? Let us know your thoughts!

Topshop Bandstand

One half of the Cellardoor team spent a lovely sunny Saturday afternoon with good company at the Topshop Bandstand Picnic in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.

We packed our picnic blankets and a few sandwiches and off we set for Regents Park, and thank god the sun stayed with us. Hosted by Jameela Jamil and with DJ sets from Girlcore and New Young Pony Club and performances by Charlotte Hatherley and Goldheart Assembly, it was the perfect way to spend our afternoon.

There were even a few stalls and events to keep us entertained in between the sets, including a hog roast, sports day races, Lola's cupcakes and even roller skates hire!

If you're from London or Bristol, you've sadly missed out on the fun. However, there's still a chance to grab a ticket for the Liverpool and Birmingham dates. Click here for more info.

Delightful Muddle

Way back in the Winter Wonderland issue we featured the gorgeous Delightful Muddle vintage boutique, and the girls are back with their Summer collection. The boutique was originally a pre-war shop selling mostly Victorian lace and collectables, but over the years it has been passed down through the family and now offers good quality vintage pieces at affordable prices, all from the comfort of your living room.

We spoke to Catherine to find out more.

So what can we expect from the Summer collection?
We'll be continuing with our current theme of bright florals with a new range of denim. We'll be adding far more jewellery to the site and improving on our accessories section. As usual our main focus is on dresses as these are always our best sellers, so expect lots of pale pinks and nudes. The swimwear that we were stocking last year will also be back in the next few weeks.

Any favourite pieces?
My favourite dress on the site is this tiered pink polka dot dress as it has such a wearable classic shape. We also love the cropped floral blouses with high waisted denim shorts that'll we'll be introducing around July which are gorgeous.

What plans do you have in store for next few months?
We recently celebrated our first birthday, and it was lovely to see how many loyal customers we already have. There is a lot we'd like to do with the site to improve it. We'll be adding more information sections, and we'd like to get our customers more involved by adding photos and illustrations. We recently started am occasional stall at Portobello market and took part in Frock me vintage fashion fair, which were great fun an a great oppertunity to spread the word about delightful muddle so we are planning to exhibit our stock a lot more this year.

How would you describe your Summer style?
We are both very girlie and love flowers. I am very classic and love floral dresses and pumps and Becca loves denim shorts and pretty vintage tops so you see a lot of both of us in our collections. Delightful Muddle is all about being feminine and taking inspiration from the past. But at the same time looking at what is on the high street and the catwalk and using the styles and colours that we see to choose our stock. This Summer is all about pale pinks, nudes, and florals whether your a dress girl or you like a more more funky look.

And lastly, what's your favourite thing about Summer?
We love the summer because we can sit in the garden and drink pimms and because its lovely to get all our favourite summer dresses and shoes out. Not to mention trips the lovely british seaside.

And for the next month the girls are offering a 25% discount for Cellardoor readers, just enter the code delightfulcellar at the checkout!
