We have recently found out about the illustrator Clare Owens. We love her wonderful, whimsical drawings and we’re sure that you will love them as much as we do. So we’ve asked her a few questions to find out more…
What made you first want to become an illustrator? When I was at College (where you are split into 4 general groups, Photography, Textiles, Graphics and Fine Art) I got a bit stuck. I wasn't Graphics and I wasn't fine Art and was a bit lost. Then when I was 17 someone showed me some Illustration books like Illustration NOW and it was like something clicked and since then I've worked towards being an Illustrator.
What inspires you? So much! Other illustrators, Films, Friends, Cities, Patterns, Women, Music, quotes...
What can we catch you doing in your spare time? I am inclined to a bit of trashy telly (come dine with me!), cooking and baking, reading, hot baths, bike rides with my boyfriend and recently getting on the allotment.
What's your fondest memory? Oh my. I have so many! Late night beaches when I was a teen maybe? Or all my friends in my single bed listening to punk rock or being a little girl dancing on the patio (my little stage). Loads!
Is there anything you are looking forward to this year? Really looking forward to summer in a new city. I'm not looking forward to getting my pasty limbs out though.
