Back in 2009 this band
captured us with their glorious rocky magic. After a three year respite the
Local Natives have had to rearrange and adapt to the departure of their bassist player Andy
Hamm. But like they say good things come to those who wait. And the wait has
been waited. The magical quartet has returned with a promising second album:
Hummingbird.
The band: Taylor Rice
(main vocalist), Kelcey Ayer (vocals, percussion, guitar), Ryan Hahn (guitar,
keyboards, mandolin, vocals) and Matt Frazier (drums) collaborated with the
National’s Aaron Dessner to create the album. Both an exciting
project for them and a near guarantee, for us, that A+B will make a pretty darn
nice record!
Here is the video for
the Local Natives’ single Breakers - occasionally reminding us of Arcade Fire edge
and you can definitely detect the National’s trademark gentle drones…
You can also listen to the audio
clip of Heavy Feet which premiered on Lauren Laverne’s BBC6 music show.
Order their new album plus get your hands on a fancy t-shirt and lithograph (a little pricey but
worth it)!
They’ll next be
playing live in Leeds at Brudenell Social Club Feb 8th and will be ending their
UK tour in Dublin Feb 11. Click here for tickets.
