What We're Listening To...

Bringing you far-out sounds from the other side of the world – this week it’s all about Aussie rock band Tame Impala.

It's music to arouse your mood and encourage you to dance. If you don’t feel immediately compelled to start moving your body in a sexy cat-like fashion, that’s fine, because just listening and soaking up the band’s sunshine-y vibes will satisfy any listener.

Instrumentally, the drums are bit restless but it is this agitated rhythm that creates one of its central psychedelic vibes (possibly inspired from other funky places).

It reminds us that we’re no longer part of The Beatles' hippie-era, even though there are distinct similarities. It’s actually been said that Parker possesses a writing-style likened to the legendary Lennon. There’s a mixture of sublime, lament and darkness – but you’ll have to decide for yourselves.

Introducing a fresh and exciting new track from their second album Lonerism, here’s one of our favourite tracks Elephant…

You can download Lonerism on iTunes and next see them play live at London’s Hammersmith Apollo June 25.
